Wodonga arrest following police car ramming

Two police cars have been damaged this afternoon during the arrest of a wanted man in Wodonga., Victoria Police say

Police responded to a possible sighting of a stolen car at a Wodonga address at about 3pm but upon arrival the suspect fled on foot.

It is believed he jumped several fences before allegedly stealing a car from the garage of a house in Memorial Drive.

There, he drove that stolen car into two police vehicles that were responding.

Both cars, a marked van and an unmarked vehicle sustained damage.

In the course of the arrest of the 22 year old man, a senior constable fired two shots at the stolen vehicle’s tyres.

The Albury man will be interviewed over the matter and is likely to be charged.

Victoria Police Professional Standards Command has also been notified over the incident.
