Wodonga Council Director to Retire in 2026

After 15 years of dedicated service to Wodonga Council, Leon Schultz has announced that he will retire in April 2026.

Joining the organisation in 2010, Leon has been an integral part of the council's leadership team, guiding major projects and initiatives that have shaped our city and supported its continued growth.

He was part of the teams that drove the delivery of The Cube Wodonga, WAVES, Hyphen - Wodonga Library Gallery and, more recently, the Baranduda Fields Sporting Precinct. He was also central to the redevelopment of the Wodonga CBA and the development of the public spaces at Junction Place.

A valued leader, Leon has contributed significantly to the organisation through his dedication, professionalism and passion for public service.

Wodonga Council's CEO Matt Hyde acknowledged Leon's immense and enduring impact.

"Throughout his time with the council, Leon has demonstrated outstanding leadership, professionalism and care for both staff and the community we serve.

"He leaves behind a significant legacy that will continue to benefit our organisation long into the future."

To ensure a smooth and considered transition, a recruitment process for a new Director will commence this month.
