Wodonga Senior Celebrations Reach 20-Year Milestone

Senior residents are invited to take part in a vibrant and engaging festival program as Wodonga's Senior Celebrations mark its 20th anniversary, with more than 60 events taking place across the city from Sunday, October 5 to Friday, October 17.

Now two decades strong, the much-loved annual festival offers a chance for seniors to connect, celebrate and enjoy a wide range of free and low-cost events designed to inspire, inform and entertain.

The highlight of this year's program is a free concert featuring one of Australia's most beloved performers, Wendy Stapleton. The Swinging Sixties show will pay tribute to iconic female artists of the 1960s. The concert will take place at The Cube Wodonga on Tuesday, October 7 at 11am, with morning tea provided before the show. Bookings are required.

The 10-day program caters to a wide range of interests with wellbeing and fitness sessions - including the Age Well Expo. There are plenty of opportunities to connect socially through mystery movie screenings, games days, shared teas and dinners and a handmade market with a barbecue. The program also features sessions on travel planning, legacy and end of life discussions as well as home care information.

This year, free bus transport will be available to and from selected events throughout the celebrations, as marked in the program.

Wodonga Council CEO Matt Hyde said the 20th anniversary is an opportunity not just to celebrate, but to recognise the strength and spirit of Wodonga's senior community.

"Our seniors have made significant contributions to Wodonga over the decades," Mr Hyde said.

"This celebration is our way of recognising their achievements and providing meaningful opportunities for enjoyment, connection and continued involvement in our community."

The full program is available online and in print at Wodonga Council's Hovell St office, The Cube Wodonga and through event partners.

Bookings open on Monday, September 15 at 10am.
