Wodonga volunteer opportunities now a click away

Volunteers are the backbone of the community and the driving force behind many of events and programs in the city.

More than 200 volunteers participate on a regular or casual basis to help with events like Children's Fair and Australia Day or programs such as Conversational Library Program or helping within our Wodonga Retained Environmental Network (WREN).

Wodonga Council always has volunteer opportunities that cannot be filled due to a variety of reasons.

But you can help. Wodonga Council now has a volunteer opportunities board on its new website, which lists the availability of long and short-term and casual roles.

"Many services would not operate so successfully without the commitment of people dedicating their time, energy and knowledge," Volunteer Co-ordinator Tarryn Firman said.

"As well as making a difference to the lives of others, volunteering allows people to develop skills, create new social networks, meet like-minded people and be engaged in the community.

"We have a broad range of roles. Some are one offs like an event and some on an ongoing basis."
