Wollongong man charged with drug, weapons offenses

A man will face court over alleged drug and weapon charges, after being found asleep in a car in a suburb of Wollongong yesterday, NSW Police said.

About 12pm (Sunday 18 October 2015), police were undertaking patrols at a car park of a licensed premises on Central Road in Unanderra when they located a man sleeping in a vehicle.

Police spoke to the man, before searching the vehicle, when they allegedly located a number of substances believed to be amphetamines and prescription tablets, a torch Taser and a knife.

The 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, where he was charged with possess prohibited drugs, possess prohibited weapon and possess knife in a public place.

He has been refused bail, to appear at Port Kembla Local Court today.
