Woman arrested for making false report

A 58-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly making a false report to police in relation to a robbery and assault in Talbot on 28 November, Victoria Police say.

Central Goldfields Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested and interviewed the Clunes woman this morning.

She was released and is expected to be charged on summons with make false report, perjury and attempt to obtain property by deception.

Detectives commenced their investigation after a report was made to police that the woman was allegedly assaulted and had her bag stolen after she stopped to assist the driver of a broken down car on Maryborough-Clunes Road about 11.30am.
