Woman caught driving over passenger limit in Melbourne CBD

A P-plater has been caught driving an overloaded vehicle in the CBD Sunday morning, Victoria Police say.

Police intercepted a Nissan Tiida hatchback which has a capacity of five occupants, near the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Streets about 9.55am.

Seven people were found inside the car including the driver, with one in the boot and one in the rear passenger footwell.

A 20-year-old Brunswick woman has had her car impounded for a period of 30 days at a cost of $890.

Penalty notices were issued to the driver and passengers.

All occupants were referred to public transport.
