Woman charged after cyclist injured in crash, NSW

A woman has been charged following an investigation into a crash during which a cyclist was injured in Sydney’s north in May, NSW Police say.

Just before 11am on Wednesday 9 May 2018, emergency services were called to General San Martin Drive at Kuring-Gai Chase, after a collision between a McLaren and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, suffered serious facial and leg injuries. He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver, a 28-year-old woman, was uninjured and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended, and with the assistance of the Metropolitan Crash Investigation unit, launched an investigation into the crash.

Following inquiries, a 28-year-old woman was issued a Future Court Attendance Notice on Sunday (9 September 2018) for the offences of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle, and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

She is due to appear at Manly Local Court Wednesday 24 October 2018.
