Woman charged after domestic stabbing in Belmont

A woman has been charged over an alleged domestic stabbing south of Newcastle yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 7.30pm yesterday, a 58-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder during an alleged domestic violence incident on the Pacific Highway, Belmont.

Police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command and New South Wales Ambulance Paramedics attended.

The man was treated and taken to John Hunter Hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A 34-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where she was charged with reckless wounding.

She was refused bail and is due to appear in Newcastle Local Court today.
