A woman has been charged as investigations continue into an alleged carjacking at Castle Hill yesterday.
About 4.40am on Tuesday (23 March 2021), officers from The Hills Police Area Command were called to Gilbert Road, near Caterson Drive, Castle Hill, following reports of a carjacking.
Police were told a 40-year-old man, driving a Holden Commodore, was travelling along Gilbert Road when he was flagged down by a woman claiming to be injured.
The man stopped to assist and was subsequently threatened by two men armed with a knife. The men and woman stole the Commodore and fled the scene.
A red Honda Jazz with two occupants was seen to follow the Commodore from the area.
The man was uninjured and notified police who commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As inquiries continue, officers attended a unit at Kellyville and arrested an 18-year-old woman about 8pm.
She was taken to Castle Hill Police Station and charged with aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it – in company and aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it – armed with weapon.
Police will allege in court that the woman was also involved in a carjacking at Powell Street, Killara, about 12.45am on Tuesday 23 March 2021.
She was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 24 March 2021).
As investigations continue, police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident, or the identity of the men, to come forward.
One man is described as being about 180-185cm tall, aged between 16 and 20, wearing a white hooded-jumper and black jacket.
The second male was wearing a black face mask and a black cap.
