Woman charged following fatal Cranbourne collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a woman following a fatal collision in Cranbourne earlier this year where a baby died, Victoria Police say.

The two-car collision occurred about 1.40pm on 8 August on the South Gippsland Highway.

A car was heading south near the Thompsons Road intersection when it was struck by a second vehicle exiting from a car park.

The 25-year-old female driver of the first vehicle was pregnant and was conveyed to hospital following the incident.

As a result she gave birth and the child passed away in hospital.

The 31-year-old female driver from the second vehicle was uninjured.

She was charged yesterday with dangerous driving causing death, reckless conduct endangering a person, careless driving, failing to give way and disobeying a one way sign.

The Cranbourne East woman has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on 9 November.
