Woman charged following investigations into child grooming, NSW

Police have charged a woman following investigations into alleged child grooming in the state’s Hunter Region. , NSW Police say

Strike Force Minnamorra was established in June to investigate allegations into the procuring and grooming of children for sexual activity by an employee at a school within the Port Stephens Local Area Command in 2015.

Police will allege a number of explicit text messages and phone calls were sent between a 50-year-old female employee and a male student aged 15.

Investigations also revealed a second student, aged 16, was also involved in sending and receiving messages and phone calls from the woman.

About 3.30pm yesterday the woman attended Raymond Terrace Police Station where she was interviewed and later charged with groom child for unlawful sexual activity, use carriage service to groom child under 16 years for sex and use carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

She was given conditional bail and will appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 6 November 2017.

She is no longer employed by the school.
