Woman charged with drug offences in Newcastle

A woman has been charged with drug offences after her vehicle was searched in Newcastle yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 11pm today, police from Newcastle City Local Area Command were patrolling when they stopped and searched a Hyundai Elantra on Everton Street, Broadmeadow.

During the search, officers allegedly located and seized amphetamine (ICE), cash, and knives.

The driver, a 22-year-old woman, was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

She has been charged with supply indictable quantity of a prohibited drug, deal in proceeds of crime, and custody of knife in public place.

The woman has been refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court tomorrow.
