Woman charged with malicious wounding, NSW

A woman has been charged over the wounding of a man in a domestic related incident at Warrawong overnight, NSW Police say.

About 6.45pm today a 47-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man became involved in altercation at a unit block on Kully Way, Warrawong.

At the time of the altercation, it is alleged the woman was armed with a meat cleaver. It is alleged the woman hit the man, causing a laceration to his left shoulder.

Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and the man was taken to Wollongong Hospital for treatment.

The woman was arrested and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where she was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.

She was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court tomorrow.
