Woman & child assaulted in Melton aggravated burglary

Melton Crime Investigation Unit detectives are seeking to identify up to five males after a woman and child were assaulted during an aggravated burglary in Melton on Friday 6 May.

Investigators were told the offenders forced entry via the back door of a home on Raleighs Road occupied by a woman, a teenage boy and a child about 11.55pm.

The males, believed to be armed with edged weapons, assaulted a nine-year-old child before demanding money and assaulting a 51-year-old woman. A 16-year-old boy ran from the house to get help.

The child was uninjured while the woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The offenders fled the scene after stealing a gaming console and a mobile phone.

They are described as being African in appearance and may be between 16-20 years-of-age.
