Woman crashes into police cars in Auburn

A woman is in hospital after crashing into police cars outside Auburn Police Station.

Just after midnight today, a Toyota Echo was travelling east on Queen Street, Auburn, when it crossed to the incorrect side of the road and heavily struck an unoccupied police car which was parked outside Auburn Police Station.

Two other police cars were also damaged by the impact.

The driver of the Echo, a 47-year-old woman, was trapped in her vehicle for almost an hour before being freed.

She was taken to Westmead Hospital where she will is being treated for serious injuries, including head, neck and spinal injuries.

Police from Flemington LAC are investigating the incident. A blood sample will be obtained from the woman at hospital which will be tested for drugs and alcohol, NSW Police say.

As a result of the crash, two police vehicles sustained substantial front-end and rear damage, with the third vehicle sustaining minor front-end damage.
