Woman dead after stabbing at Inverell

A woman has died and another has been seriously injured following a stabbing in the state's north early this morning.

Just before 2.20am (Wednesday 30 June 2021), officers from New England Police District were called to Glen Innes Road, near Moore Street, Inverell, to reports of a stabbing.

A woman, believed to be in her 50s, suffered critical stab wounds and died at the scene.

A second woman has been taken to Inverell Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A crime scene has been established as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As they continue, police are appealing for anyone with information, or who has dashcam vision from the area at the time, to call Crime Stoppers.
