Woman detected drink driving at Aldinga Beach, South Australia

Police have detected a drink driver almost five times the legal limit at Aldinga Beach last night.

Just after 10pm on Friday 11 January, police were stationary on Lower Esplanade due to fallen power lines across the road.

After patrols had set up traffic cones and activated their lights to alert road users, a Toyota sedan attempting to pass the hazard ran over traffic cones narrowly avoiding the patrol car. It continued on collecting traffic cones at the front of the patrol's car before driving off.

Police attended the registered owners address soon after and located the car and driver.

She was breath tested and allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.230.

A 54-year-old woman from Aldinga Beach was reported for drink driving and issued with a twelve month instant loss of licence. She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
