Woman dies after Ascot Vale stabbing

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating following a fatal stabbing in Ascot Vale earlier this month.

Emergency services were called to a Wingate Avenue address around 9.40am on 21 January and located a woman with life-threatening injuries.

The 57-year-old Ascot Vale woman was conveyed to hospital, however she passed away on 29 January.

A 27-year-old woman was arrested by local detectives at the time of the incident and subsequently charged with a number of offences including seriously cause injury.

She was remanded in custody.

It's believed the parties involved were known to each other.

Detectives from the Homicide Squad will now take carriage of the investigation including a review of the existing charges.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
