A woman has died in a two-vehicle crash in the state's west this morning.
About 9.25am today (Thursday 22 May 2025), emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, about 25km south of Forbes, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and found a truck and a car had collided.
The driver of the car – a woman – died at the scene.
The woman has not yet been formally identified.
The driver of the truck – a 65-year-old man – will be taken for mandatory testing.
Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with assistance from officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The Newell Highway is closed at Forbes and diversions are in place.
