Woman Dies After Crash In South Of Wellington

A woman has died after a single-vehicle crash in the state's west today.

Just after 2.40pm (Thursday 14 August 2025), emergency services were called to the Mitchell Highway, near Bakers Swamp, about 25km south of Wellington, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Orana-Mid Western Police District were told a vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The driver – woman believed to be in her 70's – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics however, she could not be revived.

She is yet to be formally identified.

The vehicle was seized to be forensically examined.

A crime scene has been established and officers from Crash Investigation Unit were called to commence an investigation into the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
