Woman dies after falling from cliff at Vaucluse

An investigation is underway after a woman died after falling from a cliff in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs today.

About 11.20am (Saturday 17 August 2019), emergency services were called to Diamond Bay Reserve, Vaucluse, following reports a woman fell about 30m onto rocks below.

A rescue operation involved officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command, PolAir, Police Rescue, Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter, NSW Ambulance Paramedics and Surf Life Saving NSW.

She was treated at the scene by passers-by until paramedics arrived but died at the scene. Her body was retrieved by PolAir.

The woman is believed to be aged 27, from Sydney; however, she is yet to be formally identified.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Witnesses have told police the woman may have been taking photos when she fell.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
