Woman dies after hit by garbage truck - Chester Hill

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a garbage truck at Chester Hill earlier today.

About 8.30am (Tuesday 23 February 2021), emergency services were called to the intersection of Gurney Road and Woodlands Avenue, Chester Hill, following reports a pedestrian hit by a garbage truck.

The female pedestrian died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.

He has since been arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

Officers will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.
