Woman dies following Mentone incident

A woman has died following an incident in Mentone on 12 October, Victoria Police say.

The woman had caught a taxi from her Chelsea home about 10.20am and was being driven to a residence in Brighton.

Police have been told the taxi was travelling westbound along the Nepean Highway when a red sedan exited a service lane and crossed all lanes of traffic to perform a U-turn.

As a result, the taxi was forced to brake suddenly to avoid a collision.

The red sedan continued driving east along the Nepean Highway.

It is understood the woman sustained soreness as a result of the incident and was taken to hospital that afternoon.

She died in hospital on 27 October.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
