Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash in Riverside last month, Victoria Police say.
It is believed a car travelling north on Riverside East Road left the road and crashed into a tree about 11pm on 14 December.
Emergency services freed a 52-year-old Horsham woman from the car who had life-threatening injuries.
Another female passenger was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It is believed the driver of the car fled from the scene and police continue to search for them.
The 52-year-old passenger died in hospital on 30 December.
Anyone with information or who witnessed the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
As this crash occurred last year it will be added to the 2016 lives lost.
