Woman hospitalised after fire - Coogee

Police are investigating the cause of a fire on the Eastern Beaches which saw a woman suffer burns and approximately 40 people evacuated from their homes this morning.

About 5am (Monday 19 August 2019), police were called to Dolphin Street, Coogee following reports of a house fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW arrived on scene and commenced work on extinguishing the blaze.

Residents were evacuated, along with people living in neighbouring properties.

One woman was taken to hospital suffering burns to her legs and feet. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The fire has been extinguished but due to suspected structural damage residents are unable, at this stage, to return to their homes. Alternative accommodation is being arranged.

Neighbours have been cleared to return to their properties.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command are continuing with their inquiries.
