Woman injured, dog dead after hit and run in Blacktown

A woman has been injured and her dog killed after a hit and run in Blacktown overnight. , NSW Police say

Emergency services were called to Bungarribee Road, Blacktown about 9.35pm today, following reports that a woman has been hit by a car.

Police have been told that a woman was crossing the road with her dog when her and the dog were struck by a 2007 Black Mazda CX7.

The Mazda failed to stop after the accident and was last seen travelling in an easterly direction along Bungarribee Road, Blacktown.

The 28-year-old woman was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Blacktown Hospital for serious leg injuries.

The woman dog, a Chihuahua died at the scene.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attended and established a crime scene which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

As investigations continue, police appeal to anyone who may have information about a 2007 Black Mazda CX7 which may have damage to its front end to contact Crime Stoppers.
