Woman injured during aggravated break & Enter at Tamworth

Police have commenced an investigation after a woman was injured during an aggravated break and enter at a home in Tamworth overnight.

About 8.50pm on Monday 1 April 2019, a 65-year-old woman was at her home in May Lane at South Tamworth when she was confronted at the rear door, by a male who pushed past her.

The male entered the woman's home and stole her wallet from a chair.

He then pushed her to the ground before leaving the unit.

Officers from Oxley Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Police conducted a search of nearby streets but were unable to locate the male.

The 65-year-old woman suffered minor abrasions from the incident but did not require treatment.

The male has been described to police as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance.

He was in his teens and with a thin build, a moustache and wearing dark clothing.

Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
