Woman injured during bag-snatch at Liverpool

Police have released vision of a man they hope can assist with inquiries after a woman was hospitalised following a bag-snatch at Liverpool yesterday.

Just before 2pm (Tuesday 11 February 2020), a 59-year-old woman was walking on the footpath on Castlereagh Street when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her bag.

As a result of the attack the woman fell heavily to the ground.

Several bystanders who witnessed the incident, chased the man and he dropped the woman's bag and continued running through several unit blocks in Castlereagh Street.

Emergency services attended, and the woman was taken to Liverpool Hospital suffering facial injuries – including a fractured cheekbone and nose - and remains in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established, and investigations are continuing by Liverpool Police Area Command detectives.

Police would like to speak to the man depicted in the images. He is described as being Caucasian appearance with a slim build. At the time he was wearing a black cap, dark pants with a white stripe down the side and a dark coloured jumper with a motif on the front.
