Woman injured in attempted carjacking in South Wentworthville

Investigations are underway after a woman was injured following attempted carjacking at South Wentworthville yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police were told about 6.30pm (Sunday 3 June 2018), the woman and two men were sitting in a Renault van parked outside a food store on Old Prospect Road.

An unknown man smashed the driver’s window using a brick and the woman and the two men ran from the vehicle.

As the man was attempting to drive off in the van, the woman tried to get back into the van via the passenger door.

The woman fell from the van onto the footpath, injuring her shoulder and head.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the 43-year-old woman received medical treatment before she was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Police from Cumberland Police Area Command attended and located the van at the scene.
