Woman injured in head-on crash at Blaxland, NSW

A woman is due to undergo surgery today after being injured in a head-on crash in the Blue Mountains overnight, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway at Blaxland after an eastbound Tiida and a westbound Citroen C3 collided head-on near the intersection of Coughlan Road about 8.25pm (Monday 18 June 2018).

A 27-year-old woman from Faulconbridge, who was driving the C3, was trapped within the wreckage and had to be released with specialist rescue equipment.

She sustained fractures to her left leg and is due to undergo surgery today. Her injuries are not described as being life-threatening.

An 18-year-old woman from Airly in Victoria, who was driving the Tiida, was taken to Nepean Hospital to be checked as a precaution. She has also undergone mandatory testing.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Springwood Police or Crime Stoppers.
