Woman punched, robbed and sexually assaulted in Burwood

A woman was punched, robbed and sexually assaulted in Burwood early this morning and police are appealing for public assistance as they investigate the incident, NSW Police say.

The 24-year-old woman told police she was walking along Selbourne Street just after midnight (Sunday 10 December 2017) when she heard someone behind her.

A man punched her several times in the face before demanding her bankcard, which she handed over.

The man then dragged the woman across the road and sexually assaulted her.

He was last seen walking west on Selbourne Street towards Shaftesbury Road.

The woman was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Officers from Burwood Local Area Command established a crime scene and have been canvassing the local area.

Investigators are trying to identify a man described as being of Asian appearance, aged in his mid 20s, about 180cm tall with a skinny build, short black hair and no facial hair.

He was wearing a dark blue shirt and knee-length shorts.

Anyone who knows the man’s identity or has information about the incident is asked to contact Burwood Police or Crime Stoppers.
