Woman robbed at Salisbury Downs, SA

Salisbury Police are seeking information from the public after a woman was assaulted and robbed at Salisbury Downs this afternoon, according to SA Police.

Just after 3pm on Tuesday 21 November, a woman in her 50's had just left the Hollywood Plaza Shopping Centre, walking along Hollywood Boulevard, when she was assaulted from behind by a man riding a motorised bicycle. The man punched the woman and grabbed her handbag.

The woman tried to struggle with the suspect, but she fell to the ground and the man fled on the bike with her handbag which contained a small amount of cash.

The victim was assisted by a couple who saw her lying on the ground and left prior to police arrival. The woman was treated at the scene by ambulance officers for a sore wrist and ribs but wasn't taken to hospital.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian with a thin build, wearing a black hooded top, work boots and sunglasses at the time of the incident. He was carrying a backpack and riding a black mountain bike which was motorised.

The male suspect is believed to have possibly spoken to a postman immediately prior to the incident. Police have so far been unsuccessful in determining who this postman is or whether he was actually a postman.

Police would like anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or have information to assist in the investigation, in particular the couple who assisted the victim or the postman who may have spoken to the suspect just prior to the incident, to please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
