Woman stabbed in Warrawong

A woman has been hospitalised after a stabbing near Port Kembla early this morning.

About 2.30am (Tuesday 1 January 2019), a 27-year-old woman was with a group of people on Kully Way, Warrawong, when she became involved in altercation in the street.

Police have been told the argument turned physical and the woman sustained a laceration.

The woman left the scene and attended a home in Lake Heights where she was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.

Detectives from Lake Illawarra Police District established a crime scene at Warrawong and are appealing for anyone with information or who was in the area at the time to come forward.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
