An investigation is underway after a woman had her car stolen at knife point while her child was inside the vehicle in the inner city.
Just after 12pm yesterday (Tuesday 1 June 2021), a 37-year-old woman returned to her Honda CRV parked in the outdoor carpark of a shopping centre on Doody Street, Alexandria.
She secured her 10-month-old baby in the car, when she was approached by a man who produced a knife.
The man instructed the woman to remove the child from the vehicle, before returning her mobile phone and throwing her handbag on the ground.
He drove off through the carpark, exiting on Doody Street before last being seen travelling north on O'Riordan Street.
Officers from South Sydney Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.
The woman and child were not physically injured.
As inquiries continue, detectives would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 35 to 40, about 170-175cm tall, of athletic build, with short brown hair, and a scruffy ginger/brown beard.
Police are also conducting inquiries to locate the vehicle, a white Honda CRV with NSW registration BBK-63J.
