Woman to face attempted murder charges in Merrylands

A woman will face court this afternoon charged with attempted murder after an incident in western Sydney yesterday, NSW Police say.

Officers attached to Holroyd Local Area Command were called to Centenary Road, South Wentworthville, just before 4.45pm on Wednesday 26 July 2017, following reports of a concern for welfare.

It will be alleged a 28-year-old woman assaulted a 13-year-old boy before threatening him with a knife.

The woman was arrested and taken to Merrylands Police Station before being transferred to Westmead hospital for assessment, where she was released a short time later back into police custody.

She was charged with attempted murder, detain person for advantage and armed with intent to commit indictable offence.

The woman, from South Wentworthville, was refused bail and is due to appear at Fairfield Local Court today.

The boy was not physically injured during the incident.
