Women hit with milk crate during robbery in Moree

Two women have been hit with a milk crate during the attempted robbery of a cafe in Moree yesterday, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 6am (10 May 2017), two female employees arrived at the cafe on Heber Street to open up for the day.

As they approached the rear of the premises they noticed three men, described as wearing hooded jumpers and long pants with athletic builds, hiding at the back of the building.

The three men set upon the women attempting to steal a bag and assaulting them with a milk crate and a chair.

The women managed to fight back and scream for assistance that was heard by a man who ran to their aid. The three men then ran from the location empty-handed.

Police from Moree Local Area Command attended the scene and commenced an investigation.

Two of the women were taken to Moree Hospital where they were treated for minor abrasions.

Police are calling for witnesses to the incident to come forward, or anyone who may have information that could assist their investigation to contact Barwon Police Station on (02) 6757 0799.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
