The Tasmanian Liberal Government wants all Tasmanians to follow their ambitions and reach their goals and that's why we are supporting the 2020-21 Women in Sport Coaching Scholarship.

Congratulations to Launceston's Danielle Carstens (netball) and Hobart's Amanda Punch (swimming) who are worthy recipients of the Scholarship and is testament to their dedication to coaching.

The Scholarship provides women with quality coaching development opportunities to support the progression of the next generation of female high performance coaches in Tasmania.

Scholarship recipients will be provided with financial assistance, mentoring support tailored to their individual development and learning needs, as well as the opportunity to take part in interstate training camps and development programs.

Delivered in partnership between Womensport and Recreation Tasmania (WSRT) and the Tasmanian Institute of Sport (TIS), the Scholarship is now in its third year.

The President of WSRT, Dana Faletic, said coaches provide guidance and are role models to our younger athletes.

"It is vital that we have women in these coaching positions as they are an integral part of all aspects of sport and we are pleased to support more female coaches in Tasmania," Ms Faletic said.

The value of the scholarships is up to $10,000 ($5,000 per scholarship holder).
