Work set to start on new roundabout at Tannery Lane and Guys Hill Road intersection

The City of Greater Bendigo will commence works on Tuesday April 13 to construct a new roundabout at the intersection of Tannery Lane and Guys Hill Road, Strathfieldsaye to improve safety in the area.

The work is being undertaken by the City with funding provided from the Australian Government's Black Spot Funding Programme.

City Presentation and Assets Director Brian Westley said over the past five years there had been three casualty accidents officially recorded at the intersection, however the City was also aware of a number of other minor incidences that had taken place.

"This is an important project for Strathfieldsaye, which will involve the construction of a new roundabout complete with drainage, concrete kerbs, lighting, signage and line marking upgrades to improve the safety of the intersection," Mr Westley said.

"Due to the nature of the works, there will be some inconvenience for residents with regard to traffic flow as well as vehicle access to properties and on-street parking.

"Guys Hill Road will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the works and temporary traffic lights will be set up on Tannery lane.

"As a result, significant detour and works signage will be placed around the area and the City will work with affected residents to provide access to and from properties while the work is taking place.
