Work to start on Hobart airport roundabout

The Hodgman Liberal Government is delivering on our plan to reduce congestion and travel time for motorists travelling to or from Sorell and the Southern Beaches.

Works will begin next week on the first phase of improvements to improve traffic flow and ease the daily bottleneck at the Hobart airport roundabout.

This will include the construction of a second lane along the existing roundabout on the Tasman Highway at Holyman Avenue, along with improvements to the entry and exit points and the removal of the merge on the approach to the roundabout from Hobart.

We want Tasmanians to spend less time in traffic and more time doing things they enjoy, and these works will help ease congestion and reduce delays along this important stretch to the benefit of all commuters along this important corridor.

Tasmanian civil construction company Andrew Walter Constructions will complete the works, supporting local jobs in line with our Buy Local policy.

These improvements complement a number of other projects along the Hobart to Sorell corridor, including replacing the Midway Point roundabout and planning for the duplication of the Tasman Highway between the airport and the first causeway.
