World class shows coming to Wonthaggi

The Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre has some incredible live performances coming to the stage over the coming months, Including Pearl: The Janis Joplin Story and My Brilliant Divorce.

Showing on Friday 27 September, Pearl: The Janis Joplin Show is a show about a rock immortal, whose individuality became a hallmark that both shocked and inspired a generation.

It's an extraordinary story, interwoven among 20 hit songs that shaped an era where love was fearless and rules were broken, including 'Cry Baby', 'Move Over', 'Piece of My Heart', 'Me and Bobby McGee', as wells as songs from Janis's greatest influences such as Bessie Smith, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.

Pearl: The Janis Joplin Show will transport the audience into a smoky, jazz, blues vibe from an era best remembered live - mixed with a good dose of pure acid bohemian vintage rock!

Tickets for the show are $45 for adults and $39 for concession/children 15 and under. Book at www.trybooking.com/BDDOA.

Coming to Wonthaggi on Tuesday, 8 October is hit show My Brilliant Divorce - a cathartic look at one of the most emotional things people go through.

This achingly funny story follows Angela, who seeks to take on the world after a divorce that she was the last to see coming.

It's a funny, heartfelt time in the theatre that gives people a chance to recognise the ups and downs of divorce and hopefully have a laugh at some of the sillier stuff that goes on.

Tickets for My Brilliant Divorce are $45 for adults and $39 for concession/children 15 and under. Book at www.trybooking.com/BDZHP.

The Centre's Box Office is open Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 4.00pm to assist with ticket sales, or can be reached on (03) 5671 2470.

A variety of live performances and movies are coming to the Centre every month. To keep up to date with what's on, follow the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wonthaggiartscentre, or visit www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/cinema.
