Wounding charges in South Townsville, QLD

Police have charged a man following an investigation into a wounding incident in South Townsville last night, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at 9.40pm on Barlow Street, two men became engaged in a verbal disagreement when a 35-year-old man used a chisel to stab a 32-year-old man in his stomach and left arm.

It will be further alleged the 35-year-old man left the scene but was located and arrested a short time later.

The 32-year-old man was transported to hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

A 35-year-old Yarrabah man has been charged with one count of wounding in a public place whilst affected by intoxicating substance and possession of a knife in a public place.

He will appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court to, June 5.
