Wrong way go back

Police have had a close call overnight after a car almost collided with a dog squad vehicle in Rockbank, Victoria Police say.

The police member observed headlights coming toward him from a car on the wrong side of the Western Freeway just before 12.30am.

The police member was forced to take evasive action to avoid a head on collision.

Another police unit located the vehicle still on the wrong side of Hopkins Road a short time later and activated their emergency lights.

The vehicle continued on the wrong side of the road causing multiple vehicles to swerve to avoid a collision.

The vehicle eventually pulled over further down the highway and the driver was arrested.

The 53-year-old Braybrook man, who was driving on P plates, had his car impounded immediately.

He has been released pending summons and is expected to be charged on summons with conduct endangering life and other traffic related offences.
