Applications are open for the Young Archie Goulburn competition as part of Goulburn Regional Art Gallery's hosting of the Archibald Prize 2023 Regional Tour, a touring exhibition of Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Budding artists between the ages of 5 and 18 are invited to submit a portrait for the Young Archie competition, as part of the Gallery's family-focused activities throughout the Archibald Prize 2023 regional tour. The portrait should be of a person who is special to the artist - someone who is known to them and has played a significant role in their life.

Open from 9am Monday 9 October 2023, entries must be received by 5pm on Friday 15 December, after which the selection process for finalists will begin. The Young Archie Goulburn will be judged by local artist and Archibald Prize 2023 finalist Zoe Young. One winner will be chosen in each category. An opening event held on Wednesday 24 January at 10:30 – 12:30 at the Goulburn Mulwaree Library.

This opportunity for young people is facilitated by Goulburn Regional Art Gallery, in partnership with the Art Gallery of NSW. The exhibition of the finalists will be on display our neighbouring cultural institution, Goulburn Mulwaree Library and on the Gallery's website.

Entry will be timed on the hour, 9-5pm weekdays and 12-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Bookings are essential and can be made online.
