Youth arrested over stolen car at Aldgate, SA

Police have arrested a youth for illegal use and theft at Aldgate overnight, according to SA Police.

Just after midnight on Friday 14 October police were conducting patrols along Mount Barker Road when they spotted a Holden Barina parked by the side of the road.

As the patrol approached the car, two youths ran off and four remained with the car. One youth was quickly located while the second youth, the alleged driver, was found in Stirling after an extensive search and track by Police Dog Marley and their handler.

Checks on the Holden Barina revealed that it had been stolen from Horsham in Victoria about a week ago.

Police will also allege that the driver stole a blue Giant men’s mountain bike somewhere between Aldgate and Snows Road at Stirling as he attempted to flee the area.

Police are yet to identify the owner of the stolen bike and urge residents in that area to check their property.

A 17-year-old boy from Horsham, Victoria was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft and driving unlicenced. The youth did not apply for bail and will appear in the Mount Barker Youth Court today.

The other occupants of the car were spoken to by police but not charged.
