Youth Charged - Property Offences - Alice Springs

Members of Strike Force Winx have arrested a 17-year-old male in relation to property offences which occurred on Monday, 14 May.

Around 1:30am on Monday morning, police allege the 17-year-old and alleged co-offenders attended a supermarket at Larapinta armed with a metal bar and baseball bat. It is alleged that they attempted to gain entry to the supermarket via the rear door which caused significant damage, Northern Territory Police say.

Soon after they are alleged to have gained entry to a restaurant at the same complex. As a result, a window and roller door sustained damage. Police believe the group then stole soft drinks and a sum of cash.

The incidents were caught on CCTV.

The 17-year-old was arrested around 1:30am on Thursday, 17 May.

He was charged with:

  • Unlawful entry – building
  • Stealing
  • Damage to property x 2
  • Attempt unlawful entry
  • Possess/carry/use weapon at night

He has been remanded in custody until 25 May 2018.
