Youths arrested by PSO's after theft in Cheltenham

Two young people have been arrested in Cheltenham after crashing a maintenance vehicle and threatening the victim with weapons early this morning.

Investigators were told the victim was doing garden maintenance near a shopping centre car park when he saw a girl and a boy approaching his vehicle.

The girl entered the maintenance vehicle, with engine running, and attempted to drive away.

The youth only made it a short distance before crashing into a shopping trolley bay, causing damage.

When the worker approached, the male and female offenders produced edged weapons and threatened the victim.

Protective Services Officers saw the incident and ran over to assist.

They safely disarmed the female who was arrested.

The male offender, still with weapon in hand, fled the scene on foot.

A short time later, local police located the male who was also arrested.

The 14-year-old girl and the 12-year-old boy, both from Highett, are currently assisting police with their enquires.

No one was injured during the incident.
