Youths arrested following pursuit in Craigieburn

YOUTHS ARRESTED FOLLOWING PURSUIT IN CRAIGIEBUR, Victoria Police sayN

Police have arrested four youths following a short pursuit in Craigieburn this morning.

Police were called to reports of a suspicious vehicle being driven erratically in the Craigieburn area around 10.45am.

The vehicle, a blue Nissan Pulsar, was sighted by a Police Canine Unit in Mickleham Road around 11.20am, where it was observed to travel onto the wrong side of the road.

The police member called for assistance from the Air-wing who maintained observations of the vehicle as it continued to be driven in an erratic manner around the Craigieburn area.

An unmarked police vehicle attempted to intercept the Pulsar round 12.03pm in Clarendon Avenue, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

A number of marked police vehicles were in the vicinity and took over the pursuit.

Three marked vehicles were involved in a collision with the Nissan Pulsar at the intersection of Craigieburn Road and Dorchester Street around 12.05pm.

Four male youths were removed from the vehicle and arrested at the scene, all receiving minor injuries.

There were no injuries to any of the police officers.

The following male youths were arrested and are assisting police with enquiries:

•An 18-year-old from Meadow Heights,

•An 18-year-old from Glenroy,

•A 17-year-old from Craigieburn; and

•A 16-year-old also from Craigieburn.

The vehicle was allegedly stolen from Craigieburn between 3pm on Sunday 9 April and 5.30pm on Monday 10 April.
