Youths caught following break-ins, pursuit and foot-chase, SA

Three youths have been arrested, while another two remain on the run after several car break-ins and a pursuit, according to SA Police.

About 12.30am this morning occupants of a home in Beaumont were woken after hearing noises. The home owner went outside to investigate and reports seeing three boys running from his driveway before discovering his car had been broken into. He quickly phoned police and reported the youths leaving the area in a red Subaru.

It was later found that three other cars in neighbouring homes had also been broken into.

While responding to the assistance call at Beaumont police observed the Subaru travelling toward the city. Checks revealed that the car was stolen from Kilkenny yesterday afternoon.

Police attempted to stop the car but it took off at speed and a short pursuit ensued toward the CBD.

The Subaru collided with another car at the corner of South Terrace and Anzac Highway, the youths abandoning the car and running through the cemetery and on to the train tracks . Thankfully the driver of the other car was uninjured.

The police helicopter and Police Dog Marley were called in to assist patrols with the search of the rail yard. A short time later a16-year-old Mansfield Park, a 15-year-old from Maitland and a 14-year-old from Pooraka were arrested a without incident.

They were charged and refused bail and will appear at the Adelaide Youth Court today.

Two others remain outstanding and police are investigating.
