Youths lucky escape and capture

Two youths have made a lucky escape before being captured in Broadmeadows early this morning (4 September).

The pair were at a Dimboola Road shopping centre when they got into a dumpster to allegedly hide from security just before 4am.

Shortly later a waste collection truck collected the dumpster, unloading its contents, including the pair, into the truck.

The tuck then ironically drove to Broadmeadows Police Station for its next waste collection when the driver heard the boys pleading from the back of the truck to be let out.

The driver sought the assistance from Broadmeadows Police to remove the pair who were known to police.

The 11-year-old and 14-year-olds sustained minor injuries and were assessed by paramedics at the scene.

There was no further police action.
